the re-enactment of Emily Hobhouse’s state funeral
The Procession Re‑enacted
Just as 100 years ago, Emily Hobhouse’s funeral procession will make its way to the National Women’s Monument in Bloemfontein for a once-in-a-lifetime re-enactment.
Almost 650 participants will take part, including 200 girls in white, women in black, students, a choir, mounted commando, “Jan Smuts” and the minister – accompanied by an orchestra, pigeons and a funeral salute. Guests will be comfortably seated.
Enjoy exhibitions, souvenirs and food afterwards.
Seats must be taken by 10h30 for the live TV broadcast. Remember your hat.
